Nobody Knows Anything
Be careful who you listen to
If you look back at all the predictions smart successful people made about certain technologies and companies that turned out to be wrong - the list would be miles high.
Here are some my favorites:
"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." — Thomas J. Watson Jr.
Former Chairman and CEO of IBM; net worth approximately $500 million; awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1964.
"The iPhone has no chance of getting any significant market share." — Steve Ballmer
Former CEO of Microsoft; net worth approximately $100 billion (2024); owner of the Los Angeles Clippers NBA team
"Bitcoin is a mirage." — Warren Buffett
CEO of Berkshire Hathaway; net worth approximately $120 billion (2024); recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
“Macy’s will be the most successful retailer over the next 5 years, not Amazon” - Scott Galloway (2014). A professor of marketing at NYU's Stern School of Business, entrepreneur, author, and public speaker, has an estimated net worth of approximately $40 million
There is so much noise in the world and everyone is looking to someone to guide them.
But it’s really important that you find your own voice.
If you don’t, you will be drowning in the hell of other peoples opinions. Even if those people are successful already - they could hold you back.
Have your own opinions and assumptions.
But be honest with yourself when you are wrong and self correct along the way.
Building a company is hard. You (and your employees) are going to need help.
I recommend you hire a remote executive assistant to stay organized and maximize your potential.
It’s not easy to find a good remote executive assistant. It took me over six months to find mine. For this reason, I’ve created LoftyHireto help you save time in your EA search.
