Check your Assumptions
It's sad that we never get trained to leave assumptions behind.
Assuming things will work as you planned is a dangerous game.
As entrepreneurs, we sometimes hold such strong assumptions that we lose our ability to see the holes in them.
This happens because our previous personal experience is constantly chiming in and shaping the information we have.
We stop looking at a project or idea logically.
Feelings come into play.
Having a gut feeling is fine, but you must independently verify it to the best of your abilities.
I didn’t say to verify your idea with “yes-men.”
Test your ideas with people who are on your level or higher.
The people you know will ask you the hard questions.
Testing an assumption has never been easier than it is now.
Yet, you will still be wrong at times.
The best business leaders still fall on their faces from time to time.
But they keep going and keep independently analyzing their assumptions - testing what they knew to be true.
Bottom line: It's essential to regularly take a step back and reevaluate the assumptions that guide your decisions—unchecked assumptions can lead to blind spots, but by challenging and validating them, you'll navigate your business with clarity and confidence.
